Selected high school students in years 10 and 11 who wish to gain knowledge and experience within the theatre industry. Please note, students must be 16 years of age at the time of the work experience placement.
You can learn about venue management in one of Australia’s best theatres.
All the elements of managing a venue, for example: mounting productions, technical operations, facilities management and maintenance, front-of-house operations and ushering, food and beverage service, corporate functions, ticketing, merchandising and administration.
You may get the opportunity to see behind the scenes of live theatre, working with our technical manager who can show you the technical operation of our current show.
One week, the hours and days will vary so you need to be flexible. You will need to be available for two or three evening performances with a late finish.
You’ll be working with a wide range of people from our renowned front-of-house team, technical crew, finance team, executives, security and our patrons.
Being able to listen and talk to people is important, as is a willingness to be part of a team. If you have pursued theatrical interests in other areas, please let us know. If you are not afraid of getting your hands dirty and don’t mind the late nights, this could be an experience you’ll never forget.
We accept 3 to 4 applicants per year based on the schedules across the Sydney Lyric & Capitol Theatre.
If you think you’ve got what it takes then send us an email to email@example.com telling us why you should be part of our program and your preferred work experience dates. Applications must be submitted by 28 February to be considered for a placement this year. Unfortunately, due to high demand any applications received after this deadline will not be considered.
We look forward to receiving your application.
Casual positions are occasionally available such as front of house, food and beverage service or stage door concierge staff.
