It is a world-renowned venue, which has hosted major musicals including Hamilton, Matilda the Musical, Mary Poppins, and Wicked, as well as world premieres of Strictly Ballroom the Musical and Dream Lover.

The Sydney Lyric is proudly Australia’s most innovative theatre. In 2018, the theatre underwent a $25 million renovation, which included transforming the auditorium into a breathable space. With world-leading flexibility of space developed by Foundation Theatres, the theatre can ‘breathe’ through four seating configurations: 1350, 1500, 1750 and 2000 seats. The auditorium size transformation occurs in less than 60 seconds and requires no technical reconfiguration of the production as the walls are acoustically transparent: true touch-of-a-button flexibility.
